Hi, nice of you to come and visit my profile. I am Marten de Jong and since May 1, 2026 I started at NOM in the role of Specialist HTSM - Autonomous Systems. The possibilities around Autonomous Systems in the North are endless. There are plenty of opportunities in the beautiful North, but how do you cash in on them? By learning together, adventuring and seeking cooperation.
I graduated from the University of Groningen as Technical Business Administration. In terms of work experience, I have an (international) background in Maintenance & Asset Management in the Energy and HTSM sectors. Previously, my focus was on managing technical risks. Something completely different? Yes and no, a risk is actually the opposite of an opportunity. However, they both have something in common; in both cases you are making an investment in the (uncertain) future!
That's also why I like this role so much. I really like thinking about the future and fantasize about what technology we will have at our disposal ten years from now. And let's face it, it's much more fun to deal with opportunities than risks. Not on my own, but together with enthusiastic companies, governments and knowledge institutions of the beautiful north. Of course I remain a down-to-earth Frisian who has both feet firmly on the ground, at least when I'm not kite surfing. Then I prefer to hang in the air as long as possible.
