Testimonial Kyra Weaver

"Working at NOM feels like one big adventure. I started four years ago as an Investment Analyst and after a year grew to Investment Manager. At the same time, I started my MScBA Master in Management: a study that fits perfectly with the business side of my work. What I like about NOM is the space to discover new things, use your creativity and really be yourself.

"The great thing about my job is that I can really connect my personal motives with what I do. Of course it's about investing, but it goes much further than just numbers. It is people-driven work: I help entrepreneurs move forward, think about content, research opportunities and constantly switch between contact with entrepreneurs and in-depth content. And I get to be myself, with plenty of room to contribute my own specialties and interests."

"As Investment Manager, I scout out interesting start-ups and investigate whether they actually have potential. I assess all facets: from the market and technology to the services, market validation and the composition of the team. Then I select the most promising start-ups, structure their funding proposal, assess the contracts and make sure everything is in place. Then I guide the company until it is ready for follow-on investments. I currently manage ten portfolio companies, nice and diverse! The best part? It is all the contact with knowledge partners, start-ups and colleagues. I really am that well-known 'spider in the web'."

I myself studied cultural anthropology, and my colleagues also come from all sorts of other fields. That makes the work extra fascinating: together you take a broad view of companies, innovations and the world around you."

"My motivation? Making the world a little fairer. That drive has been there from a young age: as a student, for example, I stood up for diversity and equality at university. And if I'm not careful, climate change keeps me awake. As an Investment Manager, I therefore ask myself: what does the world need in the next fifty years? And what technology will really contribute to making the energy and chemical sector more sustainable? Where large financiers are reluctant, I help starting entrepreneurs with funding and guidance to make their ideals come true."
