Startups looking to develop formulations smarter and faster with data, AI and robotics can apply for the Big Chemistry Startup Program starting May 27.

The National Growth Fund program Big Chemistry is transforming formulation from a craft to a data-driven science. With high-throughput automated experiments and smart algorithms, research into complex mixtures is becoming faster, more scalable and predictable, exactly what is needed in a world where markets and applications are developing at lightning speed.

Are you working on a startup where you link experiments to digital workflows and move from trial-and-error to predictable formulation? Then apply now for the Big Chemistry Startup Program and accelerate your technology with funding, mentoring and access to a unique ecosystem.

Who can apply for the program?

The program targets startups that:

  • Be younger than five years old.
  • Be a small company (<50 employees, <€10 million revenue/balance sheet total).
  • Work on applications such as polymers, emulsions and surfactants, coatings and colloids, flavors and fragrances, adhesives or electrolytes.

What does participation yield?

Funding for technological breakthroughs

  • €125,000 to €200,000 per project.
  • Up to 90% of eligible project budget costs.
  • With a minimum own contribution of 10% (may also be in child).

The scheme specifically supports:

  • Development and refinement of technology, processes and prototypes.
  • Technical validation (lab, pilot, pre-demonstration).
  • Demonstrating technical and economic feasibility.
  • Intellectual property protection.

Substantive guidance

  • Intake, progress and evaluation interviews focused on validation, next steps, funding or scale-up.
  • Collective training and working sessions.

Access to a strong network

  • Connection with leading industry partners and knowledge institutions.
  • Increase your visibility and positioning within the Big Chemistry network.
  • Access to a nationwide network of innovative startups.
  • Introduction to launching customers, pilot environments and follow-on capital.

Ready to take your next development step?

You can apply from May 2026; the total grant ceiling is €4 million. Evaluation will take place in order of complete applications, as long as budget is available.
