Who will be Drenthe's best startup?

Who can call themselves Drenthe Startup of the Year 2020 and win €2,500? Will SpaceTime Layers, OWNER or CuRe Technology be Drenthe's most promising startup?

In an updated, special video edition of the annual election of the Drenthe Startup, the three nominated startups hunt for the coveted title. Which of the three potential world conquerors convinces the four-member jury in the semifinals with their 60-second pitch? The first broadcast can be viewed below.

Jurors Drenthe Startup

Which of the nominees manages to convince the jury the most in this semifinal? Under the watchful eye of jury chairman Ronald Klarus, partner at Yspeert advocaten, the jury listens to the three pitches. The jury also includes Dina Boonstra, director of the NOM, and Arjen Koop, co-founder and owner of Watter from Assen. Moreover, as every year, the jury is not complete without the winner of the previous edition: Bakschik Martirosian of BMTEC from Emmen.

Semi-finalists Drenthe Startup

CuRe Technology, Emmen

They brought in American Coca Cola last year as an investor for their new pilot plant in Emmen. And CuRe Technology further amazed the world of plastics. The startup announced it can recycle all plastics with their own developed innovation. No matter what color, additives or compositions. Will this be the breakthrough in plastic recycling?

SpaceTime Layers, Tynaarlo

Former teacher Patrick Trentelman developed the initial idea for his startup SpaceTime Layers in his classroom. That is an interactive map that consists of a series of "stacked" digital maps, with information about the area where the user is located. For example, it brings local history or culture to life. Trentelman: ''Spacetime provides the platform; organizations fill it with content.''

OWNER, Emmen

OWNER takes administrative burdens off the real estate sector: it sends invoices on behalf of owners, maintains relationships for them and registers, for example, where all keys can be found. And founder Huub van Buul's ambitions are big. ,,When I started it, I thought I was making it for the Dutch market. But when I looked around on the Internet, it turned out there was no such platform anywhere in the world. Since then we have been looking internationally."
