The state of the Northern Netherlands - time for the bigger story
In cooperation with Planbureau Fryslan, we are organizing a compact, interactive meeting in Leeuwarden around a central question: what is the economic state of the Northern Netherlands?
We live in a time of major transitions - in energy, agriculture, technology - and they affect our region directly. But as a region, how do you get a grip on all these changes? How do you make informed choices about what to invest in, what to strengthen or let go of?
During this afternoon we will take the first step in a broader process: a system analysis of the Northern Netherlands economy. Together with researchers, sector specialists, policy makers and entrepreneurs we will map opportunities, blockages and ambitions. No thick reports, but stories, data and dialogue. What do we need as a region to work towards broad prosperity and economic earning capacity?
The afternoon also marks the end of the chair period of Marijn Molema, extraordinary professor Regional Vitality & Dynamics RUG. But above all: the beginning of a new phase in which we systematically and jointly work on a strong Northern Netherlands.
