Circular business design track: Smart Industry - Manufacturing industry

CIRCO Track - Smart Industry for manufacturing.

The goal of this workshop is to take product development a step further. This involves cleverly combining the application of Smart Industry with circular business models and design strategies.

Think of resource efficiency (more efficient production, 3D printing, reuse of production waste) or life extension of components and products (through ICT in combination with sensorics, Internet of Things, smart maintenance contracts, upgrading or re-manufacturing). Sharing resources rather than purchasing your own can ensure more intensive use of production equipment. You can also keep control by remote monitoring (preventive maintenance instead of replacement).

The workshop is organized in cooperation with Vereniging Circulair Friesland and Ynova.

For whom are these workshops of interest?

This workshop is for companies in the manufacturing industry that are or want to get started with smart industry & circular; and want to be facilitated with practical tools and expert knowledge. Learn by interacting with other companies in the chain. Participants per company are preferably a duo of a designer, engineer or product manager and a commercial manager who knows the market, customers and stakeholders. Much added value is in the interaction between the two disciplines during the process.

Why participate.

  • Circular business offers new business opportunities! It increases your competitiveness and creates new values for your business and your customers.
  • You will gain access to concrete actionable knowledge and design tools that can be shared internally and then used for other circular projects.
  • You contribute to the development of a circular economy, where products and materials are reused and raw materials retain their value.
  • You will work together with industry peers and supply chain partners (10 parties), providing useful interaction and inspiration from both business and design.
  • You will gain both visibility into the short-term circular plans realizable for your company, and possible systemic changes, as a dot on the horizon.
  • We are committed to renewal and innovation. Even when this is not fully circular, it provides a refreshing reassessment of your business.
  • In 2019, 75% of the costs will be paid by the provinces of Friesland, Groningen and Drenthe and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management.
