Tero Karstikko, Pyroll location director
‘The NOM gave us valuable assistance in choosing a location in an unfamiliar region. The NOM also arranged the much-needed contacts with the relevant organizations. This resulted in the takeover of Winpac going smoothly and without any difficulty’

Pyroll is a family-owned Finnish company. It has a turnover of € 90 million and employs 500 people at 14 locations in Finland, Poland and the Netherlands.

Pyroll is one of the leading paper, cardboard, paperboard, and plastic converters in the Nordic countries. Pyroll Contract Converting sheets rewinds over 200,000 metric tons of paper and paperboard every year.

Pyroll was looking for a base in Western Europe where many paper industry customers are found. Paper cutting company Winpac was a perfect fit: both in terms of its location and its personnel. When the possibility to take over Winpac in Winschoten occurred, Pyroll didn’t hesitate. The company however was faced with the difficult decision of either keeping the existing factory or investing in a new one. This choice was an important reason for contacting the NOM.

How the NOM helped
The NOM engaged commercial property agents to determine what would be least expensive in the long term: keeping the existing Winpac building at Papierbaan or building new premises at another location in the area. The NOM also introduced Pyroll to a civil-law notary and law firm and a number of accountants.

Pyroll has owned Winpac since January 2015 and has since increased the production capacity and accompanying jobs. This takeover was also important to the NOM: If Pyroll sees the benefits of establishing here, that gives the NOM the prospect of attracting other Finnish companies as well.
