What is the reason that loans have terms of about six years?
NOM's money is provided once by the government and is used over and over again. That means we have to make a return on our investments. With loans, the return on investment is through repayments and from the interest we cover the management costs. If additional repayments are made early on, interest income falls too quickly and we cannot cover management costs sufficiently. Management costs comprise not only the salaries of our employees, but also the costs of external research (e.g. technical due diligence) and write-offs of losses (bankruptcies). This principle applies to almost all (regional) funds.
