Kampen Industrial Care, started in 1948 as a forge in Thesinge, is a mechanical engineering service provider from Groningen that specializes mainly in maintenance of existing installations and work in and around piping systems. I myself have been with the company since 2001. The first years as right hand of the then director, later as director and since 2009 as DGA.
A major project didn't exactly go according to plan financially, which put us firmly in trouble. We then successfully knocked on NOM's door. At the end of 2012, NOM stepped in and became a co-shareholder.
What has our service brought you?
NOM ensured that Kampen Industrial Care was able to hold its ground during a difficult period. Among other things, they helped us achieve professionalization and make difficult choices. This support contributed to the company ultimately being just as healthy as before. Perhaps even healthier. In the summer of 2023, NOM sold its equity interest and I became 100% DGA again.
How did you experience the cooperation with NOM?
NOM has been a co-shareholder for over ten years. During that entire period we worked together in a pleasant way. From the very beginning to the sale of the shares, it was evident from everything that NOM had confidence in a bright future for Kampen Industrial Care. Not without reason did we agree on a good price for both parties.
Would you recommend our services to another person and what would you say?
Yes, no doubt about it. As a financier, co-shareholder and sparring partner, NOM looks beyond just getting a nice return. Even during the credit crisis they dared to step into Kampen Industrial Care. While there was quite a risk involved and banks were reluctant. They want companies to grow or, as in our case, to grow again and thus create value for the economy in the Northern Netherlands. Promising companies can take full advantage of this.
NOM provided more than just growth capital. For example, without the NOM, the acquisition by SnelStart would never have gone so smoothly. Or perhaps it would not have gone ahead at all.
