The biotechnology company located in Balk, Friesland, is getting a new CEO. That was reported by the Leeuwarder Courant. South African Stephan Bocken will be taking over from current CEO Rob Heims on 1 October. Bocken originates from the German family firm Voith Fiber and Environmental Solutions, which manufactures machinery for the paper industry.

ESD-SIC, the Groningen-based silicon carbide manufacturer will be reusing AkzoNobel’s waste water with effect from next year. This was the subject of an article in the summer edition of Chemie Magazine. The water in question is of high quality and is released from AkzoNobel’s salt production. It is currently being discharged into the river Eems, but from next year onwards it will be used for the manufacture of silicon carbide.
