Pendracare, based in Leek, has recently presented an innovative catheter at a major international conference for cardiologists. This diagnostic catheter has a hydrophilic coating, which makes it much smoother than others, and it is also more flexible, which means that inserting it into the blood vessels is much easier and less painful than is the case with the usual guiding catheters. As a result, the treatment of narrowing of the coronary arteries around the heart and placing stents to keep the veins open becomes a lot easier, and the procedure is less painful to the patient.
