Astronomy institute Astron expands in Dwingeloo

The Netherlands institute for radio astronomy, mainly known by the acronym ASTRON, is building a new wing onto the complex at the radio telescope location in Dwingeloo. It has signed a contract for this with Staatsbosbeheer (the National Forest Service in the Netherlands).

ASTRON, which operates under the umbrella of the Dutch organisation for scientific research (NWO) concentrates first and foremost on the development of instrumentation and facilities for radio astronomy and the building of the necessary infrastructure.
