New Teijin Aramid factory in Emmen manufactures ‘super tape’

Japanese company Teijin Aramid has been opened a new factory in Emmen, which will manufacture the extremely strong tape Endumax.

This tape is made from the Twaron fiber that is produced by Teijin Aramid in Delfzijl and the company claims this to be the strongest tape in the world. With the construction of the new production facility, Teijin Aramid’s investments in the Northern Netherlands total 1 billion Euros over the past eleven years, turning this Japanese company into one of the largest investors in the region. The presence of top man Suzuki during the opening highlighted the importance of the factory to Teijin Aramid.
The factory immediately generates dozens of new jobs. By the end of next year, the production is to be raised to a thousand tons of Endumax per year.
NOM Director Siem Jansen also attended the opening, and praised the economic and innovative importance of Teijin Aramid to the Northern Netherlands. He believes that investments in the chemical sector are attractive - every job produces three additional jobs in maintenance or transport for example.
